NICE updates a series of COVID-19 rapid guidelines

NICE has updated a number of its COVID-19 rapid guidelines.

The updated guidelines are as follows:

In COVID-19 rapid guideline: haematopoietic stem cell transplantation, recommendations on advice and testing for COVID-19 for patients and donors have been amended, and recommendations on deferring treatment for some patients to reflect changes in the risk of infection and the capacity in services have been removed.

In COVID 19 rapid guideline: renal transplantationNICE has added recommendations for regional networks on responding to changes in local prevalence of COVID-19, and aligned recommendations for donors and recipients with the COVID-19 guideline on arranging planned care in hospitals and diagnostic services.

In COVID-19 rapid guideline: gastrointestinal and liver conditions treated with drugs affecting the immune response, recommendations on modifications to care have been updated in line with the COVID-19 rapid guideline on arranging planned care in hospitals and diagnostic services.

Guidance on treatment with corticosteroids for people with severe or critical COVID-19, in line with the prescribing briefing on corticosteroids, has been added to COVID-19 rapid guideline: critical care in adults.

In COVID-19 rapid guideline: children and young people who are immunocompromised, NICE has updated the recommendation on safeguarding to remove a link to government guidance that has been withdrawn.

COVID-19 rapid guideline: dialysis service delivery has been updated by NICE to clarify how long people need to stay in the cohort of patients known to have COVID-19.
