COVID-19 causes major disruption to the diagnosis and treatment of cancer

The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in a drastic decline in the number of patients receiving a cancer diagnosis from an oncologist after urgent referral from their GP. It has also caused a drop in patients starting treatment for cancer of 20% relative to 2019 figures.
